I'm no stranger for advocating for my community. This year, I spoke at the Women+ in Technology's Northwest Arkansas Gala about the importance of a community in higher education for Girls who Code at UCA.

I also received the opportunity to speak on the Women in Technology's Trailblazer's podcast. I highlighted the importance of a support system in technology, especially when building a career through higher education. In this, I also highlighted Girls who Code
For SGA, I hope to speak on behalf of the community at UCA. Not just STEM, or Girls who Code. I want to advocate for our students, and push opportunities for them to have better futures with their education through our beloved school.

As you can probably guess, I am very involved with the professional network outside of UCA. I'm always constantly attending events for Women in Technology, in order to learn from women already in the technology industry, or to expose myself to different professions.

I'm always constantly encouraging people in my college to go to these events, that way it'll help to confirm a plan for post-graduation. I do whatever I can to help the people around me in my community.Speaking of which, I was one of the volunteers at Tinkerfest! Hosted in front of the Arkansas Museum of Discovery to focus on getting students in K-12 to be excited about STEM education.

This further enhances how dedicated I am to my community! I love helping people around me, and being the positive change in people's lives.
I'm also an organizer for the IEEE's project showcase - an event that dedicates itself to creating a professional network between students with talented, show-stoping projects that will demonstrate their learned skills to service professionals and recruiters. I was able to use my connections at my internship to get the associate director of software engineering from First Orion to give technical advice to our students. This is just one of the few examples of how I know how to plan an event, and plan things out for talent and expansion of current things.I want to use my knowledge in technology to bring changes to our Student Government - and make it efficiently incredible while bringing changes to our community.

My vision for SGA is to create. As a software engineering student, I know the importance of creation, and I want to highlight that. I want to create opportunities for students, create a platform for them to speak about things they care about.I know what it means to be the first. I'm the first in my family to go to college and get a bachelor's degree. I'm the first generation of my mother's family to live in America while the rest of my family lives in the Philippines. I was the only woman in my computer science class over the summer. I also helped co-found the coding sisterhood, with almost 1,000 members around the globe, dedicated to providing an online community to support anybody wanting to go into tech - not just women!I know that students sometimes don't get the choice, but to be the first. And I want to advocate for those students in SGA, and advocate for their opportunities and resources they deserve just as much as anybody else.
